The Seasonal Arc

Chapters in a larger story.

Embody Retreats are not isolated events. They are chapters in a larger story. Each retreat corresponds to a season of the Embody Medicine calendar.

Women may attend a single retreat or move through the entire arc over time.

Relationship to The Thirteen

One journey. Two doors.

The Thirteen includes four seasonal retreat experiences each year. Embody Retreats allow women outside The Thirteen to participate in individual chapters of that same journey.

Why retreats

Some work cannot happen in a room with a screen.

The body changes when it is taken out of the environment that is hurting it. A retreat is not a luxury; it is the clinical setting where a different kind of work becomes possible.

Embody Retreats are physician-led, intentionally small, and structured around a real clinical arc — testing, interpretation, somatic practice, community, and integration — held inside one of the most regenerative landscapes on the planet.

They are not wellness weeks. They are the in-person chapters of a longer relationship.

Volcanic landscape — Big Island
Why Hawaiʻi

A place that is still becoming itself.

  • Lava

The Big Island is still being made. Regeneration is the literal geology underfoot.

  • Ocean

The Pacific regulates the nervous system in ways no protocol can replicate.

  • Rainforest

Microbial density, plant medicine, humidity, sound — a reset for what indoor life depletes.

  • Land lineage

Deep traditions of healing, kinship, and reciprocity. We work in respect of them.

The Retreats

Three durations. One body of work.

3 Days

Initiation

A first descent.

For

Women new to this work, or returning after time away.

A weekend in Hawaiʻi structured around nervous-system regulation, somatic practice, and a clinical conversation about what the body has been carrying. The first chapter of a longer arc.

5 Days

Deepening

A longer arc.

For

Women ready to integrate clinical work with embodied practice.

Five days of physician-led teaching, advanced lab interpretation for those who arrive with testing, somatic and ecological practices, and a small community moving together through land, ocean, and rest.

7 Days

Transformation

A full immersion.

For

Women ready for the architectural work of return.

A full week. Comprehensive testing, deep interpretation, integration of hormones, sleep, metabolism, and story. The retreat becomes the inflection point of the year — the place the rest of the work organizes around.

The Clinical Difference

This is medicine. Held in a different room.

  • A physician in the room

Every retreat is led by a board-certified physician. Clinical questions get clinical answers.

  • Testing as language

Advanced testing — genomics, hormones, microbiome — interpreted as one continuous picture of you.

  • Continuity, not closure

Retreats are chapters in a longer relationship, not a weekend transaction.

  • Small by design

Cohorts kept intentionally small so nothing important gets missed.

The Embody Medicine Method

Five movements, in order.

  1. I

    Arrive

We meet you where you are. Rest, regulation, orientation. The body settles before any work begins.

  2. II

    Listen

Clinical conversation. Story, history, testing where it is part of your arc. A picture begins to form.

  3. III

    Move

Somatic practice, breath, ocean, walking. The nervous system learns a different baseline.

  4. IV

    Integrate

Interpretation, planning, community. The work becomes durable, not theatrical.

  5. V

    Return

A documented plan, a community, and a physician who is still there when the retreat ends.

A Sample Day

The rhythm of a single day.

An illustration, not a schedule. Every retreat is shaped to its cohort.

  • Dawn

Ocean. Breath. Movement. The nervous system arrives before the mind.

  • Morning

Physician-led teaching. Lab interpretation, biology, the long view.

  • Midday

Long meal, slow conversation, time on land or water.

  • Afternoon

One-to-one clinical sessions or small-group somatic practice.

  • Evening

Council. The day metabolized in the company of other women.

  • Night

Sleep treated as medicine. Cool, dark, unhurried.
